PTU Tut - Hocus Pocus + Free Snags!!

I had SO much fun playing with this new kit from Drea's Creations!  If you're looking for a Halloween kit with a splash of beauty, this is the one for you!  You can pick this kit up at Pimpin' PSPers WarehouseTiny Turtle Designs, or at her BRAND New store at Heartbeatz Creationz.  All of her kits are only $1.00 at all of her stores right now!!

Now onwards to the tut!!  This is my own creation; any similarities are purely coincidental!

Supplies:

Tube of choice:  I'm using the beautiful artwork of Anna Marine, which can be purchased from CDO.  Please do not use her artwork without having the proper license.

Kit of choice: I'm using the awesome kit Hocus Pocus from Drea's Creations.

Mask of choice:  I'm using Mask 8_2 from Rocked by Rachel, which you can pick up HERE.

Font of choice:  I'm using the font Bad Boys, which you can find HERE

Plugins ued:
Eye Candy 4000 - Glass and Gradient Glow

This tutorial is intended for those with a basic working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.  It was written in PSP9, but I'm sure it can be used in other versions!

Let's start!

1. Open a new canvas, 650x650, transparent background.
2.  From the kit, copy and paste element DC_44 (moon) on the canvas, resize 30%, place near the top of the canvas, either on the left or right hand (I placed it on the left side, due to the drop shadow I use).  Add a drop shadow of your choice.  I used 2, 2, 80, 7.89.

3.  Copy and paste element DC_42 (fence) on the canvas.  Resize 55%.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

4.  Copy and paste element DC_74 (bushes) on the canvas.  Resize 65%.  Move to the right hand side of the fence.  Layers > Duplicate.  Image >Mirror.  Add a drop shadow of your choice to both sets of bushes.

5. Copy and paste element DC_78 (grass) on the canvas.  Resize 70%..
Layers > Duplicate.  Image >Flip.  Add a drop shadow of your choice to both.
Move the grass to where it fills in towards the bottom of the canvas (don't let it go over the bottom of the canvas because then you'll end up with a very sharp edge on your tag)

6.  Copy and paste element DC_80 (leaves) on the canvas.  Resize 50%.  Move to one side of the canvas.  Layers > Duplicate.  Image > Mirror  Add a drop shadow of your choice to both.

7.  Copy and paste element DC_71 (large tree) on the canvas.  Resize 60%.  Move to one side of your canvas.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

8.  Copy and paste element DC_73 (smaller tree) on the canvas.  Resize 60%.  Place this tree on the opposite side of your tag as the previous tree. Add a drop shadow of your choice.

9.  Copy and paste element DC_65 (bats).  Resize 60%.  Place towards the top of the canvas, between the two trees.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

10.  Copy and paste element DC_38 (gravestones) on the canvas.  Resize 70%.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

11.  Copy and paste element DC_59 (broom) on the canvas.  Resize 40%.  Rest against the right most headstone.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

12.  Copy and paste element DC_63 (raven) on the canvas.  Resize 20%.  Place the raven to where it's resting on the headstone by the broom.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

13.  Copy and paste element DC_46 (skull goblet) on the canvas.  Resize 35% and move to the lower right hand side of the canvas (see my tag for placement).  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

14.  Copy and paste element DC_68 (black cat) on the canvas.  Resize 20%.  Place near the skull goblet.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

15.  Copy and paste element DC_77 (twigs) on the canvas.  Resize 35%.  Image > Flip.  Place in the lower left hand corner of the canvas.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

16.  Copy and paste element DC_36 (cauldron) on the canvas.  Resize 30%.  Place on top of the twigs, but try to leave enough room that you can still see some of the twigs.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

17.  Copy and paste element DC_62 (flames) on the canvas.  Resize 25%.  Place in front of the cauldron.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

18.  Copy and paste element DC_17 (skull candle) on the canvas.  Resize 25%.  Place just to the right,  in front of the cauldron. Add a drop shadow of your choice.

19.  Copy and paste element DC_19 (purple candle) on the canvas.  Resize 25% and "hang" it from a tree branch.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

20.  Copy and paste element DC_31 (Jack O'Lantern) on the canvas.  Resize 40%.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

21.  Copy and paste your tube on to the canvas.  If you're using the same tube I did, resize 80% and place her to where she is sitting on the Jack O'Lantern.  Move the tube placement to where she is behind the cauldron and the broom (to hide the cut off feet).  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

22. From the kit, copy and paste Paper 6.  Layers > Arrange > Send to bottom.

23.  Layers > Load/Save Mask > Load Mask from Disk.  Select your mask.  If you're using the same mask as I am, make sure Fit to Canvas, Source Luminance and Hide All Mask are clicked.

24.  On your Layer Palette, right click on your mask layer and Merge Group.

Now for the name!!

Set your Foreground color to black (#000000) and your background color to NULL. Font size 72, stroke width of 2.  Type your name.

Using the magic wand with these settings:

Click INSIDE each of the letters:

Selections > Modify > Expand by 2.

Open a paper of your choice.  I used Paper 11.  Shift + D to duplicate the paper and close out the original.  I resized the paper 50% so that I could get more of the cool details into my font.  Paste as a new layer over your font.  Layers > Arrange > Send Down.  Selections > Invert and press your delete key.  Selections > Select None.

Effects > Eye Candy 4000 > Glass with these settings:

Select your font outline in your layer palette.  Right click and Merge Down so that the outline and the paper are now one layer.

Apply Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow with these settings:

Apply a drop shadow of your choice.
Add your copyright and license information.
Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
Save as a PNG and you're done!

Here's some free snags for all of you!
