PTU Tutorial - A Night with a Gypsy + FREE Snags!

This tut was written in PSP9, but should work in other versions.

Supplies:

Kit: I'm using the amazing kit "A Gypsy's Revenge" by Jackie's Jewels, which is a PTU kit that you can by at the Pimpin' PSPers Warehouse.

Mask of choice: I'm using Mask 12 from Moonbeams and Spiderwebs, you can pick it up HERE.

Font of choice: I'm using Base Christmas (I know, weird font name for a Gypsy tag, but it worked so well!).  You can pick the font up HERE.

Plugins:
Xero: Porcelain
MuRa's Meister: Copies

I had a lot of fun with this kit - so many great elements and beautiful papers.  The possibilities seemed endless, but I was able to settle down enough to come up with this tag and tutorial for all of you!

Ready?  Let's begin!

Open a new image 650x650 with a transparent background.

We'll be building this kit from the back and working our way up to the front!

Copy Grass and paste on your canvas.

Move the grass towards the bottom of your canvas.
Add a drop shadow of your choice (I used 2,2, 80, 8).

I positioned the Moon up and a little off center from the right of the to trees in the tag.

Pick a paper of your choice.  I chose Paper 5.
Copy and paste as a new layer on your canvas.
Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom
Layers > Load/Save Mask > Load Mask from Disk
Select your mask:
Source Luminance: CHECKED
Fit to Canvas: CHECKED
Invert Transparency: UNCHECKED
Hide all Mask: CHECKED

In your layer palette, right click on your mask layer and Merge Group.

Now for the name!  Like I said earlier, Base Christmas is a weird font name for a gypsy tag, but I just loved the loopy type letters it produced and thought it looked even better with the Mask hanging off the end!

Select your font.  I used Base Christmas, size 60, Stroke Width 1, Kearning -25, create as Vector.
Type your name.
Image > Rotate > Left > Free > 25.00 > All Layers UNCHECKED
In your layer palette, right click and Convert to Raster Layer.
In your layer palette, right click and Duplicate.

On the bottom name layer, apply:
Texture Effects: Emboss
On the top name layer, play with the layer Blend Mode.  I used Overlay.
Merge the top name layer down to the bottom name layer.

Copy Mask and paste on your canvas.
Resize 35%
Image > Rotate > Right > Free > 25 > All Layers UNCHECKED

In your layer palette, select your name layer.
Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat.

Move the Mask up to your name and find a good place for it to "hang" from the name.

Select your Eraser tool with these settings:

In your layer palette, select the layer with the mask.

Using your eraser, carefully erase bits of the mask to make it look like the mask is hanging off of the name.

Once your satisfied, Selections > Select None.

Add a drop shadow of your choice to the name and the mask.

Add your copyright and/or tagger's line.

Layers > Merge > Merge Visible.

Save as a PNG and you're done!!

I hope you enjoyed this tut!  Here's a couple snags for you!
