PTU Tutorial ~ Haunted Whispers + FREE Snags

**This tutorial is my own creation, from my own imagination.  Any similarities are completely coincidental!**

This tutorial is written in PSP9, but should easily transfer to other versions!

Supplies:

Kit:  I'm using the beautifully, spooky kit "Haunted Whispers" by Drea's Creations.  With 99 elements and 20 papers, something is sure to spark your creativity with this kit!  You can buy it for only $1.00 at: Heartbeatz CreationzPimpin' PSPers Warehouse, or Tiny Turtle Designs.

Tube of choice:  I'm using the wonderful artwork of ©Vinegar.  I bought this tube while she was selling at MPT, which is now closed.  Luckily, you can purchase her work at CDO.  You can buy this tube HERE.  Please do not use this artwork without the proper licensing.

Mask of choice: I'm using a mask from Vix - her Vix_BigMask019, which you can grab HERE.  Be sure to leave her some love when you snag it!

Font of choice:  I'm using the font Angilla Tattoo, which you can pick up HERE.

Plugins:

Xero: Bad Dream

Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Impact: Gradient Glow

Ready?  Let's get started!

1.  Open a new image, 650x650 with a transparent background.

2.  From the kit, copy DC_99 (circle frame) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 60%.

3.  Duplicate the frame.  On the original frame layer (the one on the bottom), go to Image > Resize > 110% > All Layers UNCHECKED.  Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur > 7.

4.  In your layer palette, select the duplicated frame layer (should be your top layer).  With your Magic Wand, click in the center.  Selections > Modify > Expand > 5.

5.  From the kit, open Paper 14.  Shift + D to duplicate.  Resize 60%.  Paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Move it in between the two frame layers.  Selections > Invert.  Hit the DELETE key on your keyboard.

6.  Paste your tube as a new layer, under the top frame layer.  Resize and arrange your tube as you would like.  If you want your tube to be coming out of the frame, go to Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat.

7.  Grab your eraser tool with these settings:

And if using the same tube I am, you will want to carefully erase parts of the frame (make SURE you are on your top frame layer, rather than the tube layer when erasing):

Once done, go to Selections > Select None.

Now, we have a bit of the tube hanging out of the frame at the bottom, so take your Freehand Selection tool and draw around that part:

Hit the DELETE key on your keyboard.

8.  On the layer palette, right click on your tube layer and Duplicate.  On the original tube layer (the one on the bottom), apply Xero: Bad Dream with the default settings.  On the duplicated tube layer (the one on top), change the blend mode in the layer palette to a mode of your liking.  I chose the blend mode Multiply.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.  I used 2, 2, 79, 8.00, Black.

9.  From the kit, copy DC_26 (candelabra) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 60%.  Place on the left hand side of the frame.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

10.  From the kit, copy DC_24 (dirt/plant) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 60%.  Move towards the bottom of the canvas.  On your layer palette, right click and duplicate.  Image > Mirror.  Arrange these layers to kind of "fill in" the bottom.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

11.  From the kit, copy DC_72 (spell books) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 40%.  Place on the left hand side of your canvas to where it looks like the candelabra is sitting on the bottom spell book.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

12.  From the kit, copy DC_25 (Mortis book) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 50%.  Lean this up against the spell books.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

13.  From the kit, copy DC_23 (raven) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 25%.  Place the bird to make it sit on the top of the Mortis book.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

14.  From the kit, copy DC_65 (candle) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 30%.  Place in front of the spell books.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

15.  From the kit, copy DC_59 (grave stones) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 45%.  Place on the right hand side of the frame.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

16.  From the kit, copy DC_64 (broom) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 40%.  Place the broom to where it is leaning against the frame and the gravestones.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

17.  From the kit, copy DC_16 (group of skulls) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 40%.  Place near the center bottom of the frame, between the gravestones and the Mortis book.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

18.  From the kit, copy DC_47 (round candle) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 20%.  Place next to the gravestones and group of skulls.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

19.  From the kit, copy DC_4 (scattered leaves) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 75%.  Place near the bottom in front of the books and gravestones.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

20.  From the kit, copy DC_52 (branches) and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 65%.  Place on the right hand side of the frame, leaving some hanging out.  In the layer palette, right click and Duplicate.  Image > Mirror.  Layers > Merge > Merge Down.  Move this layer of the two bundles of branches in between the two frame layers.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

21.  From the kit, open Paper 6 and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Resize 81%.  Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom.

22.  Apply your mask of choice.  Layers > Merge > Merge Group.

23.  For the font, I used Foreground color: #473920 and Background color: #a4844a.  Font size of 48, stroke width of 1.

24.  Apply Eye Candy 5 Impact: Gradient Glow with these settings:

25.  Add a drop shadow of your choice.

26.  Resize your tag if needed.  Add your copyright information.  Layers > Merge > Merge Visible.  Save your tag as a PNG and you're done!

I hope you enjoyed this tut!!  I would, as always, love to see your results!
